Large furnaces and boilers typically have many burners delivering fuel and air into the combustion zone. These boilers can go up to the size of a several meter high buildings. Thus, balancing the burners maximizes heat rate efficiency and minimizes the potential damage to the furnace from flame impingement, tube leaks, excessive soot, slagging and other potential operational problems.
System designers use permanently mounted oxygen probes at different locations inside the flue gas duct. The average of readings inside the control system are used to optimize the total furnace fuel-to-air-ratio. As a result, readings from the oxygen probes also provide an indication of the stratification of flue gases inside the furnace.
Oxygen analyzer provide valuable measurements in combustion control, process quality, safety and environmental applications. These are used in a variety of measurement application.
